Winners - Southbound Pachyderm crushed the competition and celebrated their victory, with glasses full of delicious Jack Daniels and coke. Behind them, Nuns with Guns finally climbed higher than 4th place, and rounding out third, Kidneys Come and Go, holding on to a top spot, but sliding to 2nd place overall in the leaderboard.

The Lush Pub Quiz has consistently been rated as amongst the harder quizzes in Beijing, which puzzles me because you guys all score so damn well week in and week out. Are the questions really that hard or are the other quizzes in the city just asking questions like, “what is the capital of China?” I can totally appreciate the fact that asking about an epithalamium, is probably a bit insane, but it was fun to see the answers you wrote in anyhow. I think I saw one team write that an epithalamium was the device by which they hoped I met my fate. Nice one guys!
Also, Eyad is back! If you dropped down to Pyro, I’m sure you saw him sharing the decks with Juan, as they rocked the 555 party down at Pyro, and kept people dancing and drinkin into the early hours. If not, next week you have another chance!

(Courtesy of Kate Thomson) Power Hour definitely has that name for a reason. It can take a lot of willpower to get through 60 shots of beer in 60 minutes. But a lot of people did it yesterday and some even continued to complete the Centurion and winning not only fame, but also a kick-ass Pyro Cap to show for it.
The official Power Hour honor list goes as follows: Mitchell, Jake, Alex, Alex, Carrie, Alejandro, Maria, Marie, Tord, Peder, Dan, Maria, Amanda, Sven, Bryan, Greg, Josh and Kate Thomsen. Now, if your name is spelled wrong, well that’s your own fault too. Either you didn’t participate (which was a big mistake) or you forgot to sign your name (perhaps to drunk to remember?).
An impressive 8 people managed to get through the Centurion, and yes you had to complete the power hour in order to qualify for the next step. Congratulations to: Alex, Sherr, Peter, Sven, Bryan, Mitchell, Jake and Josh.
If you didn’t complete either, that’s okay. Consider it practice for the next time. Just like our fantastic DJ Juan, who gave up when he had reached an impressive 51!
All in all, a fun night with both Power Hour, Centurion and Beer Pong- and of course lots of people making the statement that just because it is Tuesday it doesn’t mean that you can’t party like a Friday.

Winners – Southbound Pachyderms in a rebuilding phase, clamored back to the top to take first place and the bottle of Jack Daniels with a massive boost from a solid showing in all 5 rounds. Right on their heels in second, newcomers and self deprecatingly titled Yang Guizi (洋鬼子) had a massive showing and finished second, celebrating with a pitcher of Adios MFs, and then following that win with some stellar beer pong games down at Pyro following the quiz. Finally, Kidneys Come and Go beat out the rest of the competition to seal third and quench their hunger for blood with a nice big bucket of ice cold Tsingdaos.

Kablam baby! Pub Quiz is riding high in style because you guys all rock! Lots of new teams, faces, and of course, our loyal longtermers, who continue to hold my to the highest standard. You can’t go wrong in a quiz when you have pornographic Disney references (Donald Does Daisy), a team named after a delicious beer (Newcy B’s), and of course, team Chuck Norris! BTW, did you know that Chuck Norris’ tears cure cancer? Too bad the man has never cried..
It only gets better from here on out! With Lush Rush kicking it into full speed next week, and the start of the leaderboard (You do have your team name picked out, don’t you?), its just gonna get bigger, better, and more badass! Man I have the best job in the world, thanks to all of you!!

Winners - In his final night in Beijing, Faraz and Tongzhimen rocked the competition to win the bottle of Jack, and give him a great way to end his pub quiz career in Beijing. Following them, we had a menage a trois of a tie for 2nd place, which led to the absolute necessity for a girl on girl drink-off. Crushing the competition and winning the pitcher, Kidneys Come and Go got to fill their glasses from their free pitcher of Adios MF, and in an awesome show of tie-i-tude, I felt it absolutely necessary to give both Pink on the Brink and Southbound Pachyderm a bucket of Tsingdaos, courtesy of the awesome display of drinking from their representative ladies.

Such a great night! Great energy, awesome people, and a night of challenging quiz and liver-abusing drinking. Basically, all the components that make Weds nights in Wudaokou so memorable. For those of you that came down to Pyro afterward, you were treated to some awesome DJ-ing by our resident musical expert Juan, and a bunch of you helped me and Rich trial half a dozen new shots so I can update the shot list in Pyro this week. Good times for sure! Nothing like some cheap drinks, tequila shots, and some free alcohol to get the booty shakin and the body movin. I can’t wait for Lush Rush! Stay tuned for more information regarding what will likely be one of your favorite experiences in Beijing, because Lush Rush is just that good!
