Tongzhimen, in their mighty return showing, crush second place, beating out Southbound by 4.5 points. A tough quiz by most standards, but good scores from all our teams last Wednesday.

Winners – After drinkoffs for both 1st and 2nd place, and again to decide 3rd and 4th place, Quiz in my Pants rocked first place after Valerie beat out Alyssa after they both nearly turned the drink off into a wet T-shirt contest. (20/20 hindsight, that’s a great idea for the next time we find ourselves in a girl on girl drink off, provided the girls are down to get messy in public). Boobies on the Brink stuck second with a solid showing from Alyssa in the drink off. Finally, after a testosterone fueled man vs. wild drinkoff, Francisco sealed third place for Southbound Pachyderm, leaving Pleasant Goat (I’m on a Goat) to wallow in 4th place.
Sample Question – Don Mclean wrote about the day the music died in his classic 1971 song American Pie. On what day did the music die, referring to the date where a plane crash took the lives of Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, and pilot, Roger Peterson?
Previous Question’s Answer – William Congreave
Leaderboard – Quiz in my Pants takes over the top spot in the leaderboard, followed closely behind by Southbound Pachyderm, followed again closely by Boobies on the Brink to round out the top three teams. Fourth place brings in The Dove Bros (& Sisters), and a few points behind them, Kidneys Come and Go and Nuns with Guns (& VCU Hoop Dreams).

Previous Question’s Answer – Saudi Arabia and Vatican City.
Leaderboard – The Leaderboard starts this week with the above teams sealing First, Second, and Third so far. Kidneys Come and Go and Boobies on the Brink will tie for 4th place, with Wish we had a Table taking up 5th place.

Each and every year for the last 7 years, the readers of Beijing’s biggest and best English language magazine nominate their favorite restaurants in Beijing across a few dozen categories. This year, Lush has been nominated for Best Burger and Best Late Night Dining, and we want to win!
How can you help you ask?
I’m glad you did! Navigate over to http://www.thebeijinger.com/2011RestaurantAwards/index.html and cast your votes! If you don’t have a favorite in every category, either vote for the name you like best or leave it blank and move on to the next category. I’m guessing it needs to be at least half filled for your vote to count, but again, that’s only a guess.
Also, don’t forget to vote for our new store Gung Ho! Pizza. They’ve been nominated for Best Pizza and Best New Restaurant, and we’d like to clean up with awards for both Lush and Gung Ho! Pizza. Thank you to all of you for your continued support and for counting us amongst the best restaurants in all of Beijing! You guys are the best!

So here we are in another year of the bunny. Hope you had your dumplings, lit off some of those firecrackers, and maybe did a paper cutting or two. We’ve had 9 days of fireworks, 4185027 quadrillion tons of fireworks an hour set off on average from what it sounds like outside my window, and I’m pretty sure that at current rates, China will have completely exhausted the worlds supply of gunpowder by 2027.
Lush and Pyro stayed open for reduced hours last week, so when people got those nasty midnight munchies, the popular delivery food of choice seems to have been regretful drunken phone calls made to McDonald’s at 2am, like so many drunk dial mistakes to that ex you keep telling everyone you were completely over.
It’s ok. Things are back to normal. Lush and Pyro are back to normal hours, and we’re all back to the grindstone, working on new awesome ways to party in style. Keep an eye out for Lush Rush news, the first Latin party of the year, and on Mr. Hefner’s birthday, a tantalizing Playboy bunny party to warm you up in April… and that’s just the next month or so.
Keep checkin’ in for news on the latest happenings in the Wu.
