First and foremost, Thank you to each and every one of you who voted, and thanks to those of you who have been a part of what makes Lush, Pyro Pizza, and Wudaokou such fantastic places to live, work, study, and most of all, eat, drink, and party!

Lush crushed the awards this year thanks to all our wonderful supporters! Best Student Hangout for the 7th year in a row!! Also, we count ourselves very lucky to have come home with Best Non-Sanlitun Bar, considering all the amazing bars Beijing has to offer throughout the city. Outstanding Bar Food was also a welcomed surprise in a very, very competitive category. Finally, Best Pub Quiz was a personal dream of mine, and I’m so humbled to have Lush win the top slot, especially since I know all the other quizmasters, and they’re all fantastic guys and excellent hosts.

Overall, from all of us at Lush and Pyro Pizza, we again just want to express our appreciation for all your support and help in keeping us one of the best hangouts in the city! And as always, shoot us an email, post a comment, or just fill out a comment card when you’re in the store, and let us know how we can continue to be counted amongst the best in the city! Thanks so much!

Pub Quiz Recap (May 18th, 2011)

Posted by on May 22, 2011 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

Categories – Who/what/where/when/how, World Politics/Leaders, Clause & Arno’s Germany Round, China’r, and Music

Winners – Coming out of nowhere, and I’m pretty sure it was the result of a supernova that brought together the cosmic forces of multiple teams into a new-found super team called The Seaword, they rocked the pub quiz with stellar forces and locked in a solid win for the bottle of Jack Daniels. Holding strong onto second place, Boobies on the Brink performed admirably, and Kidneys Come and Go took their first top 3 win in over a month.

Sample Question – Who was the only Chinese leader to be named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year twice?

Last Week’s Answer – Robert Englund

Leaderboard -Updated finally! Tied in first/second place with a 20 point lead on third, Southbound Pachyderm and Boobies on the Brink both have rung up 50 points in the past 9 weeks, which is an amazing performance from both teams. Rocking behind them with 30 points, and no slackers themselves, Pleasant Goat, despite missing a few weeks, and changing their names and forcing me to keep up with the changes. Just behind Pleasant Goat, and totally capable of stealing third, Quiz in my Pants have secured a solid score of 28 points. With 24 points, and still capable of coming into a tie for 3rd provided Pleasant Goat and Quiz in my Pants pull an awful performance next week, Kidneys Come and Go and Tongzhimen both have a chance to cause some damage.

Ok, so I’ve been a bit awful at updating the weekly recaps. And, even though I just went through and updated the recaps for the last month, they don’t have the same flair that they do when I write them hungover on the Thursday after the quiz, when my ears are still ringing from the previous nights party, and the beer from the night before is seeping out of the pores in my skin. Let’s just say We/I’ve been busy winning awards and stuff. Booyah!

Pub Quiz Recap (August 25th)

Posted by on Aug 27, 2010 in Uncategorized | 1 comment

Categories – Fictional Geography, Cats and Dogs, Adam’s Movie/TV Alcohol round, Numbers Trivia, Dancing Music.

Winners – Pink on the Brink took first and the bottle of Jack Daniels with a masterful use of only a 5 person team, leaving Nuns with Guns and Wudaokock to battle it out with a drink off for 2nd and 3rd place. In a battle of the sexes, Nuns with Guns edged out Wudaokock for a lock on second place and the pitcher of cocktails. Hard fought, well deserved, and a great performance from everyone, including the team with the longest name I think we’ve had in Pub Quiz history, CinderHellaFragaLickHerAssaDildoDocious, a trend I hope doesn’t start to catch on, otherwise I’m gonna need a bigger white board.

Sample Question – (Fictional Geography) In the epic video game series The Legend of Zelda, what is the name of the kingdom where all the action takes place?

Last Week’s Answer – July 14th Recap) The United States of America

Woot! New people are starting to come in for the fall semester, so exciting! Also, for the first time in months, there are some new teams dominating the top spots, which means that there will be some serious regrouping going on in the next couple weeks to get ready for Lush Rush and the start of the fall Leaderboard! Don’t forget to lock in that perfect team name. The name you choose at start will carry with you to the very end, and the 3 teams with the highest cumulative scores will get awesome grand prizes!

I had a blast on Weds and the thanks goes to all of you for the killer energy you guys brought to the night. To all of you that have stuck with us year after year and wave after wave of new student group, thanks for continuing to be awesome and support our little rag tag quiz night.
